My sister and I grew up surrounded by animals. We always had a passion for caring for all sorts of creatures. We knew early on that we wanted to spend our lives helping animals. I met my husband while we were both in the Army. It became clear to me that he had the same love for animals that I did. We decided that once we got out of the military, we would try to help save as many animals as we could.

Our first rescue was a Standardbred gelding whom we named Ulysses. Although Ulysses was abandoned and starved, he never lost his need for human companionship. We took him in and loved him and he reinforced our desire to help unwanted livestock.

 

After retirement from the Army, we were finally able to settle in rural Texas on 6 acres of land. Here we found a need for livestock rescue. We founded the rescue in 2023 with the help of my sister. Despite living in Georgia, she provides administrative support to the organization and comes out yearly to help work on the homestead. We have taken in horses, birds, and goats who were in need of a forever home. We provide a safe and loving environment for these animals to thrive and live long happy lives.
