Frequently Asked Questions
Where do your animals come from? Currently, our animals have come from various parts of Texas, through no fault of their own. Some are rescued, some are purchased to save them from slaughter or neglect. We receive animals by family surrender, typically due to change in their family’s life circumstance.
Can I adopt one of your animals? We feel that adoption is a fundamental part of animal rescue and rehabilitation. Currently, In This Moment Homestead is geared towards providing loving forever homes to our residents. By providing a safe and loving environment, we create a space for our friends to decompress from their previous situations. We understand that by choosing not to offer adoption, we limit the number of animals we can care for. A lot of our residents come to us with the understanding that this will be their forever home. We honor that agreement for the sake of the animal.
Can I visit the homestead? Currently, we do not allow visitors to the homestead for the well-being of the residents. Some of our residents come from difficult living circumstances. We promote a safe and loving environment, and for a lot of our residents, that means we limit the social contact with outside humans. One day, we hope to allow visitors because the animals give back as much love as they receive but for now, we will share their stories via social media.
How can I help In this Moment Homestead? The homestead requires a lot of resources to maintain the residents and facilities. The facility requires a lot of maintenance, upgrades, food, water, and veterinary care. As a non-profit organization, ITMH relies upon the tax-deductible donations of our supporters.
